Handmade Nation -20th March at The Broadway Cinema.

Monday, February 15th, 2010

Nottingham Craft Mafia is proud to present Handmade Nation Nottingham on the 20th March at the Broadway Cinema.

We will be screening the acclaimed craft documentary ‘Handmade Nation’ by Faythe Levine. This is only the third time that the film has been screened in public in the UK

As well as seeing such renowned documentary dedicated to the revival of art, craft and design you will be able to find an amazing selection of locally handmade unique gifts, prints, cards, textiles, jewellery and accessories at our craft fair upstairs in the Broadway Cinema Mezzanine Bar.

There will be plenty to see and do at Broadway so come and say hello to the makers at the fair upstairs and take a peek at the crafty activities taking place throughout the day. These shall be hosted by a wealth of crafty Nottingham folk who make the goodies on sale and are all part of the magnificent art scene right here in the city.

We will also have badge-making sessions, colouring competitions and an amazing raffle with a top prize of a hamper full to the brim with inspiration: including lovely fabrics; beads; vintage buttons and craft books galore!

To buy tickets for the screenings, please visit www.nottinghamcraftmafia.com and follow the link provided. Tickets are priced at £4.50. There are only 100 tickets available (50 per screening) so be quick and snap them up while you can.

Air Time 09 Networking Event Report

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

Today I represtnted the Nottingham Craft Mafia at the Air Time 09 Networking event at Nottingham Trent University.

Organisations and galleries that were there included Steve Perry from Hencilla Canworth Insurance Brokers, AIR, a-n, Arts Council England,  Beacon, Hinterland Projects, DACS (Design and Artists Copyright Society) ,East Midlands Visual Art Forum, MOOT, NAN (Networking Artists Networks), New Art Exchange, Nottingham Contemporary, Surface Gallery & The Art Organisation.

I promoted our Nottingham Craft Mafia and The Craft Mafia Organisation to lots of people, explaining what we do and why and how we go about it.  I also advised many people how I got into the Nottingham Craft Mafia and how it has significantly helped me. Many people were just starting out or wanting to progress with their business and make it their full time job. Untitled-1

Name the Glasgow Craft Mafia Mascot!

Monday, June 29th, 2009

The Glasgow Craft Mafia has a new mascot and they’d like you to help name it! They’ve been unable to sex it as there are no nether regions so feel free to come up with male and female suggestions!

To be in with a chance of winning a GCM goody bag full of prizes from their members, all you have to do is get on over to their blog and leave a comment with your suggestion for a name. Comment as many times as you like but you must suggest a different name each time! Multiple suggestions for the same name will mean only the first suggestion of that name will count.

The competition ends at midnight (GMT) on the 14th of July. A shortlist of the best 5 will be compiled and the winner will be picked by GCM members. The winner will be notified by the 31st of July.
