Here are some of my favourite printed textiles from NTUs Textile Degree Show. All of the work was amazing and would be inspiring for all creative people!

Last Call for Submissions – Surface Open Show 2010‏

There is now less then a month left to submit work for our annual Open Show 2010 exhibition, don’t miss out! All mediums are accepted and encouraged. Art pieces will be selected by a panel of Surface Gallery staff to be exhibited in our fantastic gallery space for a three-week exhibition.

An overall winner will also chosen by our curatorial team who will be given the opportunity to have at two-week solo exhibition at Surface Gallery in 2011.

Remember to get your submission to us by 1st July 6pm. Don’t forget you can now submit entries on-line. For more details and an application form visit our website here.

‘Uneven Geographies; Art and Globalisation’, Nottingham Contemporary

‘Uneven Geographies; Art and Globalisation’ is the new exhibition at Nottingham Contemporary. It displays the work of 14 artists from 5 continents representing this huge and complicated subject of Globalisation. Where in our world now is so easy to buy thing and not think where it has come from, where people and products can all move so freely its hard to keep track. The exhibition shows this uneven spread of the wealth and harsh manual labour.

I thought this quote was very powerful and shows this uneven spread of the worlds wealth.

‘Caught Up in the Frame of the Revolution’ Lee Rosy’s, Nottingham

On Friday I went to the private view of an exhibition called ‘Caught Up in the Frame of the Revolution’ at Lee Rosy’s tea shop in Nottingham. Which consisted of illustration, screen prints and up cycled mirrors. It features the work of Alf Design, Chloe Blount designs, Christina Giljohann designs and Kathleen Gillen and is open till 31st May so definitely worth a visit.

If you’re interested in how people can inspire creativity in others, then this is the perfect opportunity to share & discuss skills and meet a new bunch of like-minded folks!

The intriguing people at LAB have extended an open invitation to us all…

LAB invites everyone to their first monthly open space meeting and an opportunity to get involved in running, shaping and organising the project. The LAB project thrives on participation and engagement. They are already up and running but want others to contribute to the development and support what the project could become. This initial meeting will introduce you to some of the loose aims of the group, their aspirations and an exciting and ambitious proposal for the future.

LAB is written both as a noun and a verb, as such they are inviting you to ‘LAB’ this idea collectively and invite you as collaborators, advisors and ambassadors.

Apples and Pears and Crafty Wares is the Arts Market established in May 2009, by curiosity.haus, aimed at promoting local artists and designers, from graduates to established artisans, as a platform for independent creatives to showcase and sell their wares.

We will be back in our usual spot to welcome in the Spring time at Sneinton Market on the fourth Saturday of every month, from Saturday 27th March. Come and support the regeneration of Sneinton Market. With your support, we can help restore it to the thriving community market it once was!

Come and check out the eclectic mix of arts, crafts and fashion items on offer. From textiles to jewellery, canvases to vintage clothing and illustration to t-shirts, bringing together over 25 of the finest designer makers, artists and crafters Nottingham has to offer. The perfect place to buy one off items from independent makers, and of course, to pick up some fruit and veg while you are there!

ooh, I’m getting so excited! It’s such an exciting time to be in Nottingham this month, not only do you get to see two screenings of Faythe Levine’s Handmade Nation documentary and get stuck in with crafty fun at Broadway Cinema… but you can also join us to celebrate The Craft Off’s first birthday the following Sunday at the Malt Cross!

Tickets are still available for both screenings of Handmade Nation and you can buy tickets for The Craft Off at the bottom of this post.
