Get Made Shopping Week! 14th – 19th September

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009

It’s time to get those winter coats out, get back to school and let the cold nights drawn in (my favourite time of year!) so what better way to cheer yourself up than to get on down to ‘Get Made’ next week as we are open every day between 11am and 6pm!

This is a one-off event to thank you for your custom in our first year since Nottingham Craft Mafia was founded (phew, has it really been a year?) and includes a special Shopping Evening that starts at 4pm and finishes at a very messy 11pm! Meet the NCM makers, have a glass on bubbly on us and enjoy 10% discount on all Mafia made goodies. Unfortunately under 18s will not be allowed in after 6pm due to licensing regulations.

Find ‘Get Made’ on Google Maps

Keep your eyes peeled for more 1st birthday events and treats coming up very soon!
As usual, you can follow our exploits through this very blog, our Facebook page and also through Twitter.

The result will be a unique and personal hand bound book.

You can also meet Gillian and see her at work at a Sunday Tea Party at the Debbie Bryan Shop & Studio in a ‘Meet the artist’ day to celebrate her collaboration with Debbie and to chat to the artist as well as partake in some tea and cake!! 11am till 5 pm with tea and cake served 2 till 3pm.

28th June: Make Tea Not War II

Sunday, June 14th, 2009

Make Tea Not War II (click for more info)
Sunday 28th June, 12pm – 4pm
Sneinton Hermitage Community Centre
Hermitage Square
Nottingham

We’re back and celebrating a full year since Hannah and I first felt the craft buzz in Nottingham! Our Tea Party in Sneinton raises money for Nottingham Rape Crisis and funding for next year’s Sneinton Festival with the sale of tea and homemade cakes and showcases the best makers we’ve hunted out in the Nottingham area. But this year it’s bigger and better!

So, come on down to Sneinton on the 28th June – we really can promise cake!

Sneinton Festival 2009 – more cake and crafts!

Friday, June 5th, 2009

After a successful tea party at The Hermitage Centre last year, we’re back!

We would like to invite you to join us at our second annual event. On Sunday 28th June, tea and homemade cake will be served to raise money for charity whilst people can see the best that Nottingham has to offer creatively.

Amongst stalls for individual sellers, we want showcase local groups and businesses, such as yourselves who – along with us – proudly support each other as we aim to maintain a thriving alt-craft scene in Nottingham.

Each stall will cost a minimum £5 donation that will be split between funding for next years Sneinton Festival and Nottingham Rape Crisis (a charity that receives less donations than the Donkey Sanctuary annually!). You’re welcome to donate more if you can! Any profit made on each stall is yours to take home.

We also need volunteers thoughtout the day and you shall be rewarded in kind as tea and cake shall once more feature heavily at the party. It’s what we need to get through each day!

All monies raised from our refreshements shall also go to our chosen sponsors.

On the same day, Transition Nottingham will be hosting an event at Greens Windmill and Science Centre. We are planning to work together to bring a larger crowd to Sneinton that day and enable us to work together on future projects.

We want to hear your thoughts on how you’d like to be involved. The finer details are being worked out, for now I have laid out our aims below:

  • Celebrate Nottingham’s home-grown creativity
  • Raise money for worthy causes
  • Be a community focused event
  • Be resourceful with our skills and enthusiasm
  • Stir-up a bit of family-friendly competition with a cake contest
  • Drink as much tea as possible
  • Gorge yourself on some amazing baked goods
  • Collaborate with like-minded groups in Nottingham for the benefit of all involved

How you can help:

  • Talk to us – get in touch as soon as possible
  • Tell us about yourself – how do you think you can help?
  • Spread the word – and let us do the same for your projects
  • Get involved – in whatever way you can!

Hello all, what a glorious weekend for Nottingham’s City Pulse festival!

Nottingham Craft Mafia is delighted to be taking over one of the stalls – opposite ‘Primarni’ in the far-side huts.

We will be there from 10am on Saturday 23rd May until Sunday 31st May:

Saturdays & Sundays: 10am – 8pm

Monday – Friday: 10am – 6pm

Pop down, say hello and enjoy yourselves all week!

In association with Nottingham City Council

Forum now open

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

It’s been a long time coming, but we finally have a working discussion forum here at NCM HQ!

As well as being a place for members of the Nottingham Craft Mafia to ‘talk shop’, we also welcome those intrigued parties outside the family.

Just go to /forum to register. Don’t worry if you aren’t a member, there’s two public discussion boards. If you want to talk craft or have any questions for us, including how to go about joining then try the General Chit Chat forum. If you want to catch up on our events and other crafty things going on in the region (perhaps you’d like to promote your own!) then the News & Events forum is for you.
