You can still read the full benefits of becoming part of our family and our membership criteria over at the joining page.

Forum now open

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

It’s been a long time coming, but we finally have a working discussion forum here at NCM HQ!

As well as being a place for members of the Nottingham Craft Mafia to ‘talk shop’, we also welcome those intrigued parties outside the family.

Just go to /forum to register. Don’t worry if you aren’t a member, there’s two public discussion boards. If you want to talk craft or have any questions for us, including how to go about joining then try the General Chit Chat forum. If you want to catch up on our events and other crafty things going on in the region (perhaps you’d like to promote your own!) then the News & Events forum is for you.

our clever new events calendar!

Sunday, April 26th, 2009

Recently there’s been a whole lotta tweaking going on at NCM online HQ (or Belinda’s bedroom), the very latest development is an easy to navigate events calendar, which you can access via the main site (click ‘events’) or under the ‘pages’ section in the blog. In the sidebar, you can also see the very latest events listings up to 7 days ahead.

As well as our own events, we will be publishing details of fayres, workshops, classes and general crafty stuff going on in the local area. Events from other UK Mafias will also feature, just in case you fancy a trip further north.

Bare with us, there’s still some further webby tweaking to go on – but hey, it works! If you have any events you want to publicise, don’t hesitate to contact us will all the relevant information. You’ll probably get a nice blog write up too.. so all in all – you can’t lose.

as you may or may not have noticed, we have now changed the way our mailing list works – notifylist wasn’t really cutting the mustard! those lovely people at FeedBurner provide a much better service as every time we update the blog – you’ll get an email.. keeping it all blog-based will make it far less complicated.

if you are already a member of our mailing list, you should have received an email inviting you to re-join. if you want to keep up to date with all the NCM action – click here to subscribe.

if you don’t want us invading your inbox, there are many other ways to keep up with the action. you can follow us on Twitter to receive notification of new blog posts, our Facebook page also feeds directly from here.. and, don’t forget you can subscribe to us and all your other favourite blogs by using Google Reader (other RSS readers are available!)

and a big thanks to Anastasia for all her enthusiasm and probing questioning!

2nd May – Slash/Slash Nottingham

Wednesday, April 15th, 2009

Slash/Slash Notts is the first event of its kind. Young entrepreneurial talents come together to display their multifaceted business ventures under one roof! The event will showcase exhibitors in the fashion, art, graphic, design and music sectors but also live illustrators, screen printing, cake stands, live music and advice on starting your own creative business from The Hive.

The first Slash/Slash event is being held at the Rescue Rooms on the 2nd May – and there’s quite a bit of Mafia represent (Vintage Reclaimed, Molly’s Mum, Munky Bum and Melon will all be there selling their wares)! Apparently, they still have a few stalls available – so contact them through their website slashslashnotts.co.uk.

A little peak at a new project. I’m not the worlds best sewing person but I figured I’d show you how it was going. Any tips please feel free to get in touch. (Amy@nottinghamcraftmafia.com) Advice would be warmly appreciated.

I hope all of you are well and I’m excited to announce the Welcome Packs will be making their way to the members during the next week. I’ve been put in charge of them so please forgive my bad spelling and shocking grammar. I like to think it ads character but thats all for you to decide.

Hope you all had a lovely festive season. I’ll do my best and keeping you posted with whats happening with the mafia and so on.
