My name is Kate Broughton and I make an ever-increasing range of felt animal brooches. I love wildlife, having been dragged birdwatching as a child, and I have always loved to draw. I usually develop my drawings into brooch designs, but I also use them on cards, cotton bags and notebooks. All of my brooches are handmade and although they follow the same designs they seem to take on a life of their own as I make them, and I always try to make the first one slightly wrong so that I have to keep it for myself!

I am from Otley in West Yorkshire but I moved to Nottingham in 2001 to start university and have been here ever since.
