Sneinton Festival 2009 – more cake and crafts!

Friday, June 5th, 2009

After a successful tea party at The Hermitage Centre last year, we’re back!

We would like to invite you to join us at our second annual event. On Sunday 28th June, tea and homemade cake will be served to raise money for charity whilst people can see the best that Nottingham has to offer creatively.

Amongst stalls for individual sellers, we want showcase local groups and businesses, such as yourselves who – along with us – proudly support each other as we aim to maintain a thriving alt-craft scene in Nottingham.

Each stall will cost a minimum £5 donation that will be split between funding for next years Sneinton Festival and Nottingham Rape Crisis (a charity that receives less donations than the Donkey Sanctuary annually!). You’re welcome to donate more if you can! Any profit made on each stall is yours to take home.

We also need volunteers thoughtout the day and you shall be rewarded in kind as tea and cake shall once more feature heavily at the party. It’s what we need to get through each day!

All monies raised from our refreshements shall also go to our chosen sponsors.

On the same day, Transition Nottingham will be hosting an event at Greens Windmill and Science Centre. We are planning to work together to bring a larger crowd to Sneinton that day and enable us to work together on future projects.

We want to hear your thoughts on how you’d like to be involved. The finer details are being worked out, for now I have laid out our aims below:

  • Celebrate Nottingham’s home-grown creativity
  • Raise money for worthy causes
  • Be a community focused event
  • Be resourceful with our skills and enthusiasm
  • Stir-up a bit of family-friendly competition with a cake contest
  • Drink as much tea as possible
  • Gorge yourself on some amazing baked goods
  • Collaborate with like-minded groups in Nottingham for the benefit of all involved

How you can help:

  • Talk to us – get in touch as soon as possible
  • Tell us about yourself – how do you think you can help?
  • Spread the word – and let us do the same for your projects
  • Get involved – in whatever way you can!
